Hello Velisha: A Playful Display Font for Creative Projects

I was recently tasked with creating a brand identity for a small, locally-owned boutique that sells handcrafted skincare products. The client wanted something fresh, inviting, and aligned with their natural, artisanal vibe. As I opened my design board and started testing typefaces, Hello Velisha caught my eye. It’s a cute and playful display font that immediately felt like the right match for this project.

Hello Velisha for Brand Logos and Packaging Design

Hello Velisha is a display font that brings a sense of charm and whimsy to any design. When I first used it in a logo draft, the rounded curves and friendly letterforms gave the brand a warm, approachable feel. I placed it over a soft pastel background with a subtle leaf pattern, and it looked perfect. For packaging design, I tested it on product labels and found that it worked well as a headline font—its playful nature didn’t clash with the minimalist aesthetic of the rest of the design.

One thing I noticed early on was how Hello Velisha handled different scales. Whether it was on a small label sticker or a large shop sign, the font maintained its visual appeal without becoming too busy or too simple. It added just the right amount of character to the branding.

Hello Velisha in Social Media Graphics and Website Headers

When designing social media graphics for the skincare boutique, I wanted the text to stand out but still feel cohesive with the brand's overall look. Hello Velisha came in handy for Instagram posts and Facebook ads. Its unique shapes and gentle curves helped draw attention to key messages like “Handmade with Love” or “Natural Ingredients.”

For the website header, I paired Hello Velisha with a clean sans serif font to create contrast and ensure readability. This combination allowed the display font to shine as a headline while keeping the supporting text professional and easy to read. It’s a great example of how Hello Velisha can work best as a display font rather than a body text font.

Hello Velisha for Greeting Cards and Editorial Design

Another use case I explored was using Hello Velisha for greeting cards and promotional materials. I created a mockup of a thank-you card with the font as the main text. The result was charming and personal, which perfectly matched the boutique’s customer-centric approach. It also worked well in editorial design for a blog post about the brand’s story, where it was used sparingly to highlight important phrases and keep the reader engaged.

What stood out during this process was how versatile Hello Velisha is across different mediums. Whether it was printed on paper or displayed digitally, it maintained its legibility and visual impact. It’s a font that feels like it belongs in both physical and digital spaces.

Hello Velisha in Presentations and Digital Design Assets

As part of the brand guidelines, I needed to include some presentation slides for internal use by the boutique’s team. Hello Velisha was ideal for title slides and section headers. It brought a sense of fun and creativity that aligned with the brand’s mission. I also used it in digital design assets like banners and email templates, where it helped reinforce the brand’s personality in every touchpoint.

Testing Hello Velisha in these formats made me appreciate how well it works in presentations and digital design. It’s not just a decorative font—it has enough structure to be functional while still feeling expressive.

Hello Velisha for Merchandise and Commercial Design

The final step in the project involved creating merchandise such as branded mugs, tote bags, and stickers. Hello Velisha was the go-to choice for all of them. Its playful style translated beautifully into these items, making them feel more like collectibles than standard promotional goods. It’s a testament to how Hello Velisha can elevate even the simplest of commercial design projects.

One tip I’d give to fellow designers is to always test the font before committing it to a full brand system. Try it on different backgrounds, sizes, and alongside other fonts to see how it behaves in various contexts. Hello Velisha may be a display font, but its adaptability makes it a valuable addition to any designer’s toolkit.
